~History of the Band~
Collective
Soul is a band from Stockbridge, Georgia (a small town about 15 miles south of Atlanta)
that hit the big time in the Spring of 1994 with their hit single "Shine." This
5-member band is comprised of brothers Ed and Dean Roland, and Stockbridge High School
pals Ross Childress, Will Turpin, and Shane Evans. They are a young group, with a lot of
talent.
Their first album, "Hints,
Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" was simply a demo album that, in the end, sold
over 2 million copies. After this hit, they attended Woodstock 94' and played with artists
like Aerosmith and gained more popularity. Then they created the second album,
"Collective Soul" because their first album was just a recompilation of demos
and this would be the first real effort as a band. From this album came the radio hit Gel.
During 1995, Collective Soul
enjoyed much success. Guest tracks on the John Lennon Tribute Album entitled Working Class
Hero (Jealous Guy) and on the CD Saturday Morning Cartoon's Greatest Hits (The Bugaloos),
and the incessant touring kept the band very busy.
Then came the album "Disciplined
Breakdown" which was Certified Gold and their last hit album "Dosage" with
their radio hit Heavy.

~LYRICS - HEAVY~
HEAVY
Complicate this world you wrapped for me
I'm acquainted with your suffering
All your weight, it falls on me
It brings me down
All your weight, it falls on me
It falls on me
Hold me up to those whom you've deceived
Promises you break, you still believe
All your weight, it falls on me
It brings me down
All your weight, it falls on me
It falls on me
